Two recent MASHLM graduates, Arthur Ochieng Kawino and Ibrahim Mansaray, are reporting successful career moves since earning their advanced master's degree in humanitarian logistics and management.
Arthur:
When I started studying at MASHLM I was working for Tearfund North Sudan as a roving logistics manager. I was responsible for managing and ensuring the delivery of efficient and effective procurement and logistics systems support for disaster management teams.
Now I am working for Plan International in South Sudan as a consultant in emergency logistics. Plan has been a development oriented INGO and has of late aligned itself to emergency interventions. I was called to implement and set up emergency logistics systems and manage the efficient and timely movement of relief supplies, as well as to arrange and manage the necessary support facilities (fuel storage, radio equipment operations, vehicle maintenance, computers and office equipment / supplies) and associated procedures needed to support the emergency operations in South Sudan. I am also responsible to further develop comprehensive logistics and procurement plans.
Ibrahim:
Completion of the MASHLM studies has seen successive achievements in my career path. During my first school year and after great contributions to management decision making at mission level, additional responsibilities were assigned and I was then promoted to Operations Manager. Final study year was rather exciting and now looking at global responsibilities as a Roving Logistics Coordinator- World, essentially building staff capacity by happily sharing all the frameworks, policies, procedures and other tools learnt to guide International Medical Corps logistics staff to help address the growing humanitarian logistics challenges.
